Bring light and celebration to 2026 with an unforgettable evening of music and dance. New Year Ujala is a special concert that will entrance audiences of all ages and backgrounds, perfect for families, date nights and music-lovers alike.
‘Ujala’ translates from Sanskrit, Urdu and Hindi to ‘light’. It connects cultures and celebrations from across the globe and brings hope in the darker months of the year. The concert is presented for Birmingham Light Festival, alongside a spectacular gallery of illuminated artworks in the city. Audiences can enjoy the colourful displays on offer in the Jewellery Quarter before this magical concert at St Paul’s Church.
The evening begins with the vibrant and joyful sounds of the Sur-Nandan Choir, led by the talented Sanchita Pal. This is followed by a stunning showcase of dance from the acclaimed India Island Academy. Your headline performers for New Year Ujala are award-winning pianist Rekesh Chauhan and enchanting vocalist Priti Kaur. This harmonious duo will transport you on a musical journey, through beloved Bollywood hits and timeless Indian classical melodies.
